Located right next to the distillery, the Cachaça Museum has one of the greatest collections of its kind in Brazil and is acknowledgely the biggest one in São Paulo State. Inside the museum, over 5000 bottles of the beverage, collected by Old Mario for 40 years, can be sighted.
Among the rarities, there is a miniature of “Pinga Pelé” (Pelé cachaça), of 1958. At that time, the soccer player was only 17 years old and was already a world champion. Due to career concerns, Pelé didn’t wish to have his image linked to alcoholic beverages and successfully worked for a ban on the sale of that cachaça.
The museum has been the subject of frequent mass media reporting, and has recently been cited in a landmark book on cachaça (“A Nossa Cachaça”, by Octavio Pinto Carvalheira).
Besides the cachaça collection, it is also possible to enjoy a small set of antiques exhibited in the museum.
